Ishiuchi Miyako (Japan, 1947) is a Japanese photographer known for her intimate focus on memory, the body and personal objects. Her style combines the documentary with a poetic aesthetic, exploring personal and collective themes. Some of her most outstanding works are Yokosuka Story, about the city where she grew up, or Mother’s, where she documents her mother’ s belongings until her mother’s death. In 2005 he represented Japan at the Venice Biennale and his work is part of the collection of major museums such as MoMA in New York.
