René Zuber

France, 1902–1979

René Zuber (France, 1902- 1979) was a French photographer and writer linked to humanist photography. He participated in the Film und Foto exhibition in Stuttgart in 1929, a key event of the photographic avant-garde. In 1934, together with other colleagues, he founded the Alliance Photo agency, the first press agency. His gaze focused on the everyday, the landscape and humanity, forming part of the New Vision movement, which conceived of the camera as a new eye, a new way of looking at the world.
