Alfred Stieglitz (USA, 1864-1946) was a photographer, editor, gallery owner and a key figure in the consolidation of photography as art. He founded Camera Work, the first magazine dedicated to photography as an artistic expression, and directed pioneering galleries such as Little Galleries and Gallery 291 in New York, where he promoted both modern photography and avant-garde art. In his work, which includes portraits and abstract images, he combined formal experimentation with an innovative artistic vision, elevating photography to the level of fine art.
