Serie Less Americains Portfolio

Mishka Henner | 2016

It explores Robert Frank’s iconic photobook The Americans. As a critical re-reading, the project reconfigures the original by erasing parts of its images, not as a destructive act, but as a way to create something new. Inspired by Robert Rauschenberg’s gesture of erasing a drawing by Willem de Kooning, the author of Less Americains questions Frank’s work, exploring how the power of the image has changed over time.
