Serie Unformen der Kunst
Karl Blossfeldt – 1928
Made up of the photographs that made up the album published under the same title, it shows images of plants that, due to their lighting, framing and quality of the paper and printing, highlight their sculptural and graphic power. This series became a visual reference for designers and artists linked to the Bauhaus, who found in nature a formal and structural model.
Germany, 1865-1932
Karl Blossfeldt (1865-1932) was a German photographer known for his images of plants and flowers. His publication Urformen der Kunst (1928) shows the structural beauty of nature and established him as a key figure in the New Objectivity movement. He was a professor of sculpture and used photography as a didactic tool. His rigorous and aesthetic approach not only influenced artists and designers, but also elevated botanical photography to the field of art, becoming a key figure in the visual history of the 20th century.
