Lee Friedlander (USA, 1934) is a photographer linked to the modern documentary movement and recognized for his dense and structurally complex images. He is famous for capturing urban scenes with reflections, shadows and unusual framing, as well as for his self-portraits. Through his work he has explored what he called the “American social landscape”, documenting with irony and precision everyday life in the U.S. His work has been widely published and recognized with awards such as the Hasselblad Award in 2005 and is part of the collection of museums such as MoMA and the Whitney Museum in New York.
