Tod Papageorge | 1966-1967
One of the few color works by a photographer whose career has been marked mainly by black and white. It documents the urban life of New York in the seventies through an intimate and personal look. With a focus on the everyday, he shows the streets of the city, its inhabitants and their moments of vulnerability, creating a visual reflection on society and the rhythm of New York life.
USA, 1940
Tod Papageorge (USA, 1940) is an American photographer and a key figure in street photography. He was director of the photography program at Yale University School of Art for decades, training generations of photographers. His work documents urban life and the everyday, with a poetic approach. His work has been recognized with two Guggenheim Fellowships and two National Endowment for the Arts grants, and he has published several photobooks including Passing Through Eden: Photographs of Central Park and Studio 54.
