Armando Salas Portugal | 1967-1971

He explores mental strength through his skills in the field of chemistry and photography, with the power of meditation and thought. The result, a set of abstract images in black and white and color, which I call “Numinal Photography” or “Thought Photography”.

Mexico, 1916-1995

Armando Salas Portugal (Mexico, 1916-1995) was a Mexican photographer renowned for documenting landscape, architecture and pre-Hispanic culture. His collaboration with architect Luis Barragán was key, and his images are essential to understanding Mexican modernity. Through his work, Salas Portugal left a valuable testimony from different levels: artistic, historical, architectural and anthropological.
