USA, 1958-1981

Francesca Woodman (USA, 1958-1981) was a photographer who developed a unique visual language ahead of her time, becoming a cult figure in photographic art. She found in the photographic camera her vehicle of artistic expression. Her work, intimate surrealist, explores themes such as identity, the body, femininity and the relationship with space, with a key focus on the self-portrait. Through the use of abandoned spaces, long exposures and fragmented framing she creates images of poetic and mysterious character. Her work is part of the collection of important museums such as MoMA in New York or the Art Institute of Chicago.
