Jonas Mekas | 1968
Experimental film that reflects on nature and the passage of time, capturing the ephemerality of flowers. Fragmented in small series of still images, the author composes a visual diary in which the everyday becomes poetry.
Lithuania-USA, 1922-2019
Jonas Mekas (Lithuania, 1922 – USA, 2019) was a filmmaker, poet and visual artist considered the father of experimental or “underground” cinema. He founded the Anthology Film Archives, a space dedicated to preserving alternative cinema that had no place in the Hollywood industry. His work is characterized by capturing the everyday without a previous script and reusing archival images. Throughout his career, his camera recorded figures such as Salvador Dalí, Andy Warhol, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, among others.
