Serie You Talk About It But I Just Cant See It
José Dávila | 2011 Explores visual perception and representation in art. Through the technique of cutting, he eliminates iconic figures from his images, inviting the viewer to question the importance of content versus form and context. Reflects on the construction of meaning in contemporary visual culture.
Mexico, 1974
José Dávila (Mexico, 1974) is a multidisciplinary Mexican artist known for his sculptural and photographic work that draws on the symbolic languages of art history and Western visual culture. His work uses the appropriation and recontextualization of modern art icons to study the way we recognize and relate to each other visually.
His work has been exhibited internationally and is part of the collection of important museums such as the Pompidou Center in Paris, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid.
