Serie Cyclopean Eye
Akira Satō | 1960s Series of portraits focusing on close-ups of women. With a graphic, intimate and stylized approach, he combines elements of fashion photography with an introspective exploration of the female figure. The portraits take on a sculptural and abstract quality, reflecting the subjective sensibility that would mark contemporary Japanese photography.

Akira Sato (Japan, 1930-2002) was a Japanese photographer known for his female portraits and urban scenes, taken mainly in Japan and Europe. In 1957 he joined the VIVO collective and explored beauty in the everyday with a style influenced by fashion photography and the humanist tradition, incorporating elements of surrealism.
