Akira Satō | 1950s-1960s Focused on portrait photography of women, she fuses sensuality, mystery and modernist aesthetics. She shows her models with tight frames and intense contrasts, emphasizing gestures, looks and fragments of the body. A subjective and idealized vision of the feminine, where desire and beauty are always present.
Japan, 1930-2002
Akira Sato (Japan, 1930-2002) was a Japanese photographer known for his female portraits and urban scenes, taken mainly in Japan and Europe. In 1957 he joined the VIVO collective and explored beauty in the everyday with a style influenced by fashion photography and the humanist tradition, incorporating elements of surrealism.
