Aaron Siskind | 1987 Documents Vermont landscapes through an abstract approach. Through details of nature, such as textures and forms, he transforms the everyday into visual compositions charged with expressive force, where light, shadow and matter are related.

USA, 1903-1991

Aaron Siskind (USA, 1903-1991) introduced abstraction in photography. He began his career in documentary photography, motivated by social reasons, and later became involved in abstract expressionism. His work explores different points of view on common objects, emphasizing textures, details and organic forms. He combined his photographic production with teaching in different institutions and was a founding member of the Society for Photographic Education. His work is part of collections such as the MoMA in New York or the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid.
